A passenger was injured early Sunday morning, Sept. 20 when an SUV rolled after its driver lost control on northbound State Route 167 in Kent, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The single-vehicle crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 20 on northbound SR 167 just north of South 212th Street (map below).
State Patrol listed DUI as the cause of the crash and said drugs or alcohol were involved.
Troopers said the SUV was traveling north in the second of three lanes when the driver lost control. The vehicle began sliding sideways, crossed into another lane and went over the right shoulder.
The SUV continued up an embankment before rolling onto its side. It came to rest on the right shoulder facing southbound.
A passenger was injured and transported to Valley Medical Center. The driver was not injured. State Patrol reported that neither occupant was wearing a seat belt.
The driver faces charges of DUI and vehicular assault, according to the State Patrol.
No other vehicles were involved and no deaths were reported.
