Southbound SR 167 reopened in Kent and Auburn on Monday morning following a closure due to floodwater from the Green River, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced.
On-ramps to southbound SR 167 also have reopened in this area, which was closed Sunday by WSDOT due to water over the roadway.
Northbound SR 167 remains closed between South 212th Street (milepost 22) in Kent and 15th Street Northwest (milepost 16) in Auburn due to standing water on the highway.
On-ramps to northbound SR 167 are also closed at the following locations:
- Northbound SR 167 on-ramp from SR 18
- Northbound SR 167 on-ramp from 15th Street Northwest
- Northbound SR 167 on-ramp from South 277th Street
WSDOT continues to work closely with local, state and federal partners in response to this unprecedented weather event. Our crews worked around the clock through the weekend to assess the situation and develop plans to reopen the highway.
On Sunday, Dec. 14, crews placed hundreds of oversized sandbags to redirect floodwaters away from northbound SR 167. These response efforts continued through the night and into Monday morning, Dec. 15.
There is no estimated time to reopen lanes along this 6-mile stretch of northbound SR 167. People should seek alternate routes during the ongoing closure, add extra time to their commute and expect delays along Interstate 5 and other northbound routes.
Real-time travel information is available via the WSDOT mobile app, the WSDOT travel map or by signing up for WSDOT’s email updates.
