An 18-year-old Kent man is facing felony charges after a violent shooting at the Renton Transit Center left a 52-year-old man critically injured on Friday, July 11, 2025, according to court documents.

Marquez Antonio Dominguez, whose last known address was in Kent, was arrested alongside two others after surveillance footage and witness statements tied him to a broad-daylight shooting that unfolded in front of Metro buses and passersby.

The incident began Friday at around 3:15 p.m. when the victim approached Dominguez and two companions – his sister and her boyfriend – while holding a short piece of PVC pipe. Video shows the victim swinging the pipe at his sister before being confronted by the two men.

Another suspect is seen on surveillance footage pulling a firearm and allegedly shooting at the victim, who immediately cowered with his hands up. Prosecutors said that the victim attempted to defend himself by grappling with the suspected gunman. At that moment, video shows Dominguez pulling a firearm and firing multiple shots at the victim while he lay on the ground.

A Metro bus driver parked nearby told police he witnessed a man dressed in black fire at the victim. Officers arrested the three suspects several blocks away and recovered three firearms and six shell casings. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his chest, thighs and knee. As of Friday night, he remained in critical condition.

Dominguez made his first court appearance on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He is being held in King County Jail.

“This level of violence at a transit hub in broad daylight is deeply troubling,” said one law enforcement official involved in the case, who emphasized the ongoing investigation and pending charges for all three individuals.

Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.
