The BNSF rail crossing at East James Street near Kent Station was closed Thursday afternoon, Dec. 11, 2025, after a collision between a train and a car, according to the City of Kent.
The crash was reported around 3:56 p.m. at West James Street in downtown Kent. City officials said the crossing would remain closed while an accident investigation is underway.
The city announced at 5:32 p.m. that the crossing had been re-opened.
BNSF Railroad was notified, and drivers were urged to use alternate routes.
The closure affected one of the city’s busiest east–west corridors near Kent Station, where rail activity and commuter traffic frequently converge.
