Two people were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries early Monday morning, July 7, 2025, after a car slammed into a building housing a child daycare at 515 E. Smith Street in downtown Kent (map below).

According to a 911 dispatch record from Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, the “Vehicle Accident (Medic)” call at My Montessori School, also known as Little Pioneers Academy, was first reported at 1:38 a.m.

Luckily, no children were inside the building at the time.

Multiple emergency units responded, including E371 and A371 at 1:38 a.m., followed by R307, M7, and D307 at 1:43 a.m., TRI41 at 1:47 a.m., and M11 at 1:59 a.m.

Emergency personnel treated both occupants of the vehicle at the scene before transporting them to a Seattle-area hospital for further care.

Firefighters from Puget Sound Fire’s heavy rescue unit installed had to install shoring to stabilize the structure, which was compromised by the impact.

No additional injuries were reported, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Authorities have not released the identities or conditions of the patients.
