A 70-year-old man and his 48-year-old son were found dead Tuesday night, May 12 in an apparent murder/suicide at a residence on Kent’s West Hill, according to the Kent Police Department.
Police said multiple Kent patrol officers were dispatched at 9:27 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, to a home in the 27100 block of 31st Ave South (map below) after receiving a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found two adult males with gunshot wounds who were “obviously deceased,” according to Kent Police.
Initial information from a witness indicated that the 48-year-old son allegedly shot his father before taking his own life, police said. Both men are believed to have lived at the residence where the shooting occurred.
Kent detectives responded to conduct the homicide investigation. Police said it remains unclear what led to the incident.
Authorities said there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to the community.
The investigation remains active.
