The pedestrian and biking trails under the W. Meeker Street Bridge over the Green River will be closed for a month-long period to allow for essential bridge repairs, the City of Kent announced this week.

The closure will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, and will remain in effect 24/7 until 9 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2024.

The city has announced that during this period, detour signs will be posted to guide pedestrians and cyclists to alternative routes.

The repairs are part of a scheduled maintenance plan aimed at ensuring the safety and longevity of the bridge.

Residents and trail users are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and adhere to the detour instructions for their safety.
