Kent Police Detectives are investigating a homicide early Thursday morning, Nov. 21, 2024, after a 21-year-old SeaTac man was fatally shot in a vehicle near the 23000 block of Military Road South (map below).
Kent patrol officers were dispatched to the area at 1:06 a.m. for a reported car crash involving downed light poles. While en route, dispatchers informed officers that someone may have fired into the vehicle before the crash.
When officers arrived, they found a 2010 Lexus in the roadway with its driver, the vehicle’s sole occupant, suffering from severe head and neck injuries. Officers attempted lifesaving measures until Puget Sound Fire and medics took over. Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the victim had been stopped at a traffic light on Veterans Drive, preparing to turn northbound onto Military Road South, when an unidentified suspect approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots through the passenger-side window. The victim’s vehicle then traveled north, collided with light poles, and came to rest.
Police do not believe the shooting was random. No suspect has been identified, and there were no other injuries reported.
The Kent Police Department’s Detective Unit is leading the investigation, with the King County Medical Examiner’s Office working to confirm the exact cause of death and identify the victim.
