A man was shot and killed Monday afternoon, June 16, 2025 in a vehicle on Kent’s East Hill, prompting an ongoing homicide investigation, Kent Police said.
Police said that at approximately 2:32 p.m. Monday, Kent Patrol Officers, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority firefighters, and medics responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man bleeding from the head inside a vehicle near SE 240th Street and 108th Avenue SE (map below). The vehicle had reportedly collided with other cars.
Upon arrival, officers found the adult male unresponsive inside a locked vehicle. Witnesses told officers they believed the man had been shot. Emergency responders extricated the victim and attempted life-saving measures, including CPR, but sadly, he died at the scene from what police described as “catastrophic” injuries.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending official verification.
According to police, the suspected shooter — a 28-year-old Kent resident — remained on scene, surrendered his firearm to officers, and is cooperating with the investigation. No other injuries were reported.
Detectives interviewed witnesses and collected evidence at the scene, but the events leading up to the shooting remain unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
