Kent Police are investigating after a woman was struck and killed by a train Wednesday evening, July 22 near the Union Pacific Railroad tracks just south of Willis Street.
Officers were dispatched to the area at 7:22 p.m. Wednesday, after a report that a train had struck a pedestrian, according to Kent Police. When officers arrived, they found a 38-year-old woman, who sadly was pronounced dead at the scene.
The train conductor told police that multiple train horn activations were made after the person was seen on the tracks, but there was no change in behavior and the train could not stop in time, police said.
The train was reported to be traveling 35 mph, according to police.
