Kent Police are investigating after a train struck and killed a 39-year-old woman Sunday, Aug. 2 near Railroad Avenue South, according to the Kent Police Department.
Officers were dispatched at 5:13 p.m. Aug. 2 to the area of 301 Railroad Ave S. (map below) after a report that a train had struck a pedestrian, police said.
Police found the woman at the scene, where sadly she was pronounced dead.
The conductor told police the train was traveling northbound on the tracks and approaching the transit center when the conductor saw a person crossing the tracks ahead.
The person stopped on the tracks and faced the train, police said. The conductor activated the train horn repeatedly, but the person did not move off the tracks.
The victim’s name and cause of death will be released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
