A 53-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday evening, Oct. 14 after allegedly leaving a Kent Target with a cart containing $752.64 in stolen merchandise while two police officers were parked outside, according to the Kent Police Department.
Officers Wall and Long had just handled another shoplifting call at the store when a loss prevention employee ran outside and told them someone had left through the east emergency exit with a cart full of items, police said.
The officers ran after the woman and found her attempting to flee across 104th Ave SE. She ignored commands to stop, abandoned the cart and tried to hide in bushes before officers took her into custody without further incident, according to the department.
Police said the cart contained 21 stolen items and that the woman admitted she intended to sell some of the merchandise.
