Kent’s Domestic Abuse Women’s Network (DAWN) invites the community to “May It Forward,” a fundraising event in support of domestic violence survivors on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5–7 p.m.
Taking place at Green River College in Auburn, this event will offer an engaging evening filled with smooth jazz, locally curated wine, delicious appetizers, and powerful stories of impact.
Guests will hear firsthand how DAWN is working +to provide life-saving advocacy, mental health counseling, legal services, and emergency shelter to survivors across King County. As systemic gaps widen and community needs rise, DAWN continues to meet the moment with hope, resilience, and community-centered care. Your attendance and support are more critical than ever.
“Despite shrinking funding from the federal Victims of Crime Act, we’ve seen a steady and consistent rise in the number of community members turning to DAWN for support,” said Executive Director Gina Finley. “In 2024, we served nearly 1,900 individuals and families—a sharp increase from 1,200 the year before.”
Domestic violence affects 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the U.S. and is the leading cause of homelessness among women and children in Washington State. May It Forward is DAWN’s new signature event, designed not only to raise funds, but to bring together community champions who believe in a future where homes are peaceful and survivors are empowered.
The evening will feature performances by Kareem Kandi, international musician and director of the Kareem Kandi World Orchestra. Guests will enjoy wines from Federal Way’s Abbe Winery and appetizers catered by OVG Hospitality, in partnership with Green River College.
Tickets are available now at www.dawnrising.org. Visit the event page to reserve your spot and be part of the movement to create safety and change for survivors.
