A mobile home fire at the Meadows Mobile Home Park in Kent on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2025, required a two-alarm response as firefighters battled flames threatening nearby homes.

The fire broke out just after 1 p.m., with a smoke column visible from Kent’s East Hill and parts of Tukwila.

When Puget Sound Fire crews arrived, they found one mobile home fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading toward two neighboring homes. Firefighters immediately deployed hose lines to protect the nearby structures and worked to extinguish the blaze.

A second alarm was requested due to the scale of the incident, bringing in additional firefighters. Crews managed to contain the fire within 45 minutes and extinguished remaining hot spots in void spaces.

No residents were home at the time of the fire, but the family dog tragically perished. Puget Sound Fire extended their condolences to the family for the loss of their pet.

“Puget Sound Fire sends their heartfelt condolences to the family for the loss of their beloved family dog,” PSF said in a statement.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries to humans were reported.
