Fire crews from Puget Sound Fire, Valley Regional Fire Authority, and South King Fire & Rescue responded early Sunday morning, Mar. 16, 2025 to a large fire involving piles of cars at a wrecking yard in Kent.
Crews were dispatched around 3 a.m. to the commercial yard, where multiple vehicles stacked in rows were engulfed in flames at the 24000 block of 86th Avenue South (map below), according to Puget Sound Fire officials.
Heavy equipment was called in to assist firefighters by pulling apart the burning vehicles, allowing crews to better access and extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported, and the fire was brought under control around 9:23 a.m. Firefighters remained at the scene afterward to extinguish hotspots and prevent flare-ups.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters have extinguished the fire and are now working on extinguishing hotspots.
