Our friends at the Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) are going through a ‘Refresh’ exercise, and they’re seeking feedback from residents and visitors.

A survey is being facilitated by the Washington State Main Street Coordinator, along with Norma from the National Main Street organization.

The purpose of the survey is to evaluate if KDP is moving in the direction the community wants. Through the survey, the facilitators will evaluate what they are doing with what the public says they want.

Take the survey online here (there are only six questions):

“That will allow us to revisit our strategies and goals for the next few years,” the KDP said. “They just sent the survey last Thursday and would like it to be returned by Aug. 22. That will allow them time to review the information before they arrive on Sept. 11th, to meet with the Board and also work with some Focus Groups.”

Focus Groups will also be held on Sept. 12. If you own businesses in Kent, your Focus Group will meet 2-2:30 p.m. and if they are one of our many ethnic groups, that Focus Group meets at 3-3:30 p.m.

Here’s more from a letter sent out by the KDP:

What might Kent Downtown Partnership be up to? What would you like them to be up to?

The Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) in partnership with the Washington State Main Street Program and the National Main Street organization are participating in a city-wide survey as well as a Focus Group.

The purpose of the survey is to help the KDP’s Board in setting their short and long-term goals for the future of your downtown. We may think we know what you want but until we hear from you, we may be going in a direction that the majority of you do not want us to go.

The purpose of the Focus Group is to give you an opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas as well as here what some of your peers have to say about downtown Kent.

We have a representative from Washington and National Main Street programs who will act as facilitators to work with our KDP Board to do an exercise called “Refresh”. This is a time for us to take a fresh look at what we are doing and what our business and public would like us to focus on. Once we have the input from the public, we can then re-visit our current goals and make adjustments as needed.

Please help us by going to our website and taking the survey: www.surveymonkey.com/r/WKW3LP9 . If you would like us to send you an electronic or hard copy of the survey, we would be delighted to do so. Please, encourage your friends to participate; including youth. No names or addresses are being requested. There are only six questions.

Thank you for being a part of making a difference, a positive difference, in your historic downtown.
