One fatality and two injured in the accident

The Kent Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run collision that occurred in the 25200 block of Pacific Highway South last night that resulted in the death of an adult female passenger of the vehicle that was struck.

According to the police department, at 7:55 PM last night, Kent officers were dispatched to a car accident on Pacific Highway South. Preliminary reports said the lone drive in the suspect vehicle was traveling southbound on Pacific Highway South when it ran a red light, hitting another vehicle. After the accident, the driver of the suspect vehicle fled on foot.

An adult female passenger died from her injuries in the collision. Two other occupants of the vehicle were stabilized by medical personnel on the scene and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The identity of the driver causing the collision was unknown at the time Kent Police issued their statement Saturday night.

Kent Police traffic investigators responded to the scene and are investigating the circumstances that contributed to the collision. While they were investigating, they closed southbound travel on Pacific Highway and traffic was rerouted.
