On Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, the Kent Police Department held its 8th annual ‘Shop with a Cop’ event.

Kent Police Officers, Explorers, volunteers and Mayor Dana Ralph gathered in the wee hours of the morning to make a special shopping experience for 38 kids in our community.

“Every year we partner with Kent Youth and Family, (KYFS) to locate these great littles, pair them up with an Officer, and let them pick out Christmas gifts,” organizers said. “This is a special time for our Officers who are here on their own time, often after working until 6:00 am on grave shift.”

Despite the early hour, they never have a problem finding volunteers.

“We love this event. Having an opportunity to spend a half hour to make a Kent child’s Christmas more joyful…is a privilege.”

“To everyone who helped to support this event, THANK YOU!”
