Kent Police are investigating a gun assault that occurred outside Kentridge High School on Monday night, Jan. 27, 2025.

Police said that at 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the school, located at 12430 SE 208th Street, following a report of an illegal gun discharge and people running in the parking lot.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with several people in the area, but no witnesses admitted to seeing or hearing anything unusual. About 30 minutes later, school security discovered surveillance footage showing a confrontation between two individuals that escalated into a suspect firing a gun at a victim.

The victim, a Kentridge student, was not injured and fled on foot.

The suspect, identified as a 17-year-old former Kentridge student, also fled the scene before police arrived.

Detectives are actively investigating the incident and working to locate the suspect.

Kent Police are collaborating with the school’s safety team and deploying School Resource Officers to increase patrols and security presence at Kentridge High School.
