The levy’s passage ensures that KSD can provide students with updated tools and safe, modern learning environments. Key projects funded by the levy include upgrades to network systems, increased access to reliable internet, and improvements to school building safety.
“We’re deeply thankful to the KSD community for believing in our mission and for making a meaningful investment in the future of our students,” said Superintendent Israel Vela. “This levy will help support our students by funding the critical and emergent projects needed to provide the tools and environments they need to be prepared for success.”
The district emphasized that state funding has not kept pace with rising costs, leaving KSD to navigate financial challenges such as a long-term structural deficit, declining enrollment, and insufficient special education funding. While the district’s fund balance remains aligned with board policies, the levy is vital to addressing ongoing needs while ensuring fiscal responsibility.
“This community has shown its commitment to equity, excellence, and providing opportunities for our students to thrive,” the district said in a statement. “We are committed to navigating financial realities with care and transparency to support the success and well-being of our students, staff, and community.”
The KSD Board and administration thanked voters for empowering the district to provide high-quality education and pledged to continue fostering environments where students can succeed.
