A 51-year-old Kent man suspected in a tragic, fatal double shooting earlier this week was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon with the assistance of the Snohomish County U.S. Marshals Task Force, according to the Kent Police Department.

The arrest occurred around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Seattle area.

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, was booked into the King County Jail on unrelated charges while Kent Police detectives prepare to file the homicide case with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

As we previously reported, the shooting happened around 8:37 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 at an apartment complex in the 22400 block of Benson Road SE.

Officers responded to reports of an argument followed by gunfire and found a 35-year-old Kent man lying outside, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Inside a nearby apartment, officers discovered a 46-year-old Kent woman who had also been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other victims were found, and the names of the victims have not yet been publicly released.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

Detectives continue to process evidence and interview witnesses to determine the circumstances that led to the deadly incident.
