Three teens have been arrested in connection with the Sunday morning death of Kent Police Officer Diego Moreno, police said Monday, July 23.
Moreno was killed during a high speed pursuit when another officer’s vehicle struck him after he deployed spike strips across the eastbound lanes of SR 516 in hopes of stopping the suspect car.
The teens are ages 16, 17 and 17.
Here’s video we broadcast live on our Facebook page of Monday’s press conference, as shot by Kelsey Parlavecchia:
A public vigil for Moreno is scheduled for this Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Town Square Plaza, located at 115 Second Ave. N.
A memorial service – also open to the public – will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at 1 p.m. at the ShoWare Center.
A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help the fallen officer’s family, and donations can also be made at any US Bank branch.
