Auburn Police are cautioning businesses to be vigilant following reports of an alleged scammer, identified as Jasmine Willie, who is accused of using false accusations of racism to obtain money from local establishments.
Police said that Willie, who has multiple active warrants in both Pierce and King counties, allegedly enters businesses, accuses staff of racist behavior, and demands refunds without proof of any prior purchases.
Auburn Police reported that on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024, she allegedly stole more than $800 from three different businesses in the area.
Local law enforcement advises business owners to refrain from giving Willie any funds and to contact 911 immediately if she enters their establishment.
Auburn Police are actively investigating and coordinating with nearby jurisdictions to address the incidents and locate the suspect.
Willie’s actions have raised concerns among local business owners, with authorities underscoring the importance of reporting suspected criminal behavior and protecting businesses from similar scams.
“If she comes into your store, do NOT give her any money and call 911 immediately,” police said in a statement.
