A 56-year-old Kent man was killed and a woman seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday night, Mar. 28, 2025 that police say may have been caused by a suspected drunk driver, according to the Kent Police Department.

Officers responded to the collision at approximately 9:44 p.m. Friday night at the intersection of 94th Ave South and South 240th Street (map below), where bystanders were attempting to free a man trapped inside one of the vehicles.

Police arrived and were able to extract the driver, providing life-saving aid until medics took over. Tragically the driver, a 56-year-old Kent man, did not survive.

A 41-year-old female passenger, also from Kent, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries, authorities said.

The driver of the second vehicle, a Kent woman in her late 30s, showed signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence. She is currently under investigation for vehicular homicide, police confirmed.

“The chain of events leading up to the collision were not immediately clear,” the department said in a statement. “Kent Police Traffic Investigators will be working to make that determination.”

The Kent Police Traffic Unit is leading the investigation.

No names have yet been released, pending family notification.
