A seaplane crashed into Lake Meridian in Kent on Saturday morning, Aug. 24, 2024, prompting an emergency response from Kent Police, Puget Sound Firefighters, and medics.

The incident occurred around 10:10 a.m., after multiple 911 calls reported that the seaplane had flipped upside down in the lake and was sinking approximately 300 feet from the shoreline.

Firefighters arrived and found the seaplane upside down in the water. Firefighters, a Kent Police Officer and a resident all entered the water to rescue the pilot.

Boaters on the lake also quickly responded to the crash, attempting to tow the submerged plane closer to shore.

The pilot, identified as the sole occupant of the aircraft, was pulled from the wreckage by rescuers.

According to authorities, the pilot was unconscious and CPR was immediately administered. Medics are currently on the scene, but the pilot’s medical status remains unknown.

Authorities have not released further details, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
