Even planes crash.

I’m hard on myself. I wouldn’t say I’m a perfectionist, but reality is I am. I expect everything to go perfectly. I’d probably never state that, but given my reaction when they don’t, it’s a reality. Because I expect things to go perfectly, I’m frustrated when they don’t.

One day it occurs to me even planes crash. They’re highly engineered with the utmost safety standards, are rigorously maintained and flown by highly competent pilots. People’s very lives are dependent upon them being perfect and, yet, even planes crash.

How foolish of me to expect everything I do would go perfectly.

It’s a work in progress, but I’m learning to let go and ease back on myself a little. Knowing myself, I’ll probably still expect things to go perfectly, but when I get too hard on myself, I’m working on remembering…even planes crash.
