The Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) has announced the launch of its “Illuminate Downtown” campaign, aimed at revitalizing the historic downtown area with new, energy-efficient lighting to improve aesthetics and safety.

Recognizing the need for significant improvements to the aged lighting infrastructure in Historic Downtown Kent, the KDP is seizing additional funding opportunities to transform the area into a beautifully lit and welcoming environment.

“Our goal is to install new, energy-efficient lighting to enhance both aesthetics and safety downtown,” KDP organizers said. “However, we need community help to make this vision a reality. We invite you to consider supporting us in this endeavor by increasing your B&O contribution this year, sponsoring the project, or making an individual contribution. Most importantly, join us in this endeavor to make an impact in our community.”

KDP is hoping to raise $100,000 with this campaign, which will run through Dec. 31, 2024. Donations are tax deductible. If KDP doesn’t reach its goal of $100K, the project WILL move forward in phases commensurate with funding received.

Launch Party will be Thursday, Aug. 1

To kick off the project, KDP is hosting a Launch Party at Thai Chili (map below) from 5–6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024, inviting the community to learn more and show support. For those unable to attend, KDP welcomes discussions about how individuals and businesses can participate in the campaign.
