A parking lot dispute outside the Inn Between Pub on the city’s East Hill ended in gunfire early Thursday, July 31, 2025, leaving an 18-year-old with a gunshot wound to the leg and two men under arrest, Kent Police said.

Officers responded to 911 calls at 2:14 a.m. reporting shots fired at the bar, located at 25412 104th Ave. SE (map below).

Witnesses told police that the male suspect was trying to leave in a black SUV.

“Multiple officers arrived quickly, intercepted the SUV in the parking lot, and placed the driver into custody,” Kent Police said in a statement.

Police said the 63-year-old suspect from Federal Way initially refused to comply, was believed to be armed, and at one point placed a handgun on the roof of his vehicle. He was arrested for obstruction.

Minutes later, dispatchers advised that a man with a gunshot wound to his leg had been dropped off at Valley Medical Center. The 18-year-old Seattle resident first claimed he was shot in Tacoma, but investigators linked him to the Kent shooting and arrested him for first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Surveillance video showed the younger man and several others confronting the older man in the parking lot, shoving him and trying to take his necklace. The older man fired, hitting the teen in the leg. The group fled, but the 18-year-old returned and fired at the older man, who was not injured.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and are reviewing evidence and witness statements to determine if additional charges are warranted.
