A 25-year-old Kent resident was arrested Monday morning, Mar. 24, 2025 after allegedly throwing objects at a Kent Police Department parking enforcement vehicle, damaging its windshield and door.
Police said the incident occurred around 8 a.m. in the 1600 block of W. Meeker Street (map below), where a parking enforcement officer was on duty. According to police, the suspect began yelling and swearing at the officer before escalating to physical aggression.
“Our Parking Officer tried to ignore it and got back into his vehicle, then heard a very loud bang,” police said in a statement. “The suspect had thrown something so hard at the windshield that it chipped. The suspect then threw something at the vehicle door while yelling there was ‘nothing he could do about it’.”
“Wrong,” police said.
Patrol Officers Neuman and Bezon responded as the suspect attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly spotted nearby and, after initially being uncooperative, was taken into custody with the help of additional officers.
Police later confirmed that the suspect was not given a parking ticket, as he was on foot and did not have a car at the scene.
“If you are experiencing frustration over a ticket, we understand,” KPD said. “But we politely ask that you don’t throw things at our officers. Instead, check the back of your ticket for options on how to handle it in an adult way.”
The suspect now faces charges of assault and property damage.
