The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two victims killed in a fatal apartment shooting on July 14, 2025 as Gary Lee Winston, 34, and Migna Elizabeth Kennebrew, 46 — both residents of Kent.
Winston died from multiple gunshot wounds, and Kennebrew from a gunshot wound to the neck, according to official records.
As we previously reported, Kent Police were dispatched at approximately 8:37 p.m. to reports of an argument and gunfire at a residential complex in the 22400 block of Benson Road SE. Witnesses found a man outside and a woman inside; sadly, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.
On Wednesday, July 16, a 51-year-old Kent man with an extensive criminal history was arrested on July 16, with assistance from the Snohomish County U.S. Marshals Task Force, in the Seattle area. He was booked into the King County Jail on unrelated charges.
Kent Police detectives plan to submit the homicide case to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
In a statement, Kent Police said witnesses heard an argument, followed by gunshots before finding the two victims.
No other individuals have been identified as being involved, and authorities do not believe there’s a wider public safety threat.
The investigation remains active, with detectives continuing to process evidence and interview witnesses. The Medical Examiner’s report confirms the shooting occurred at a residential address, and both deaths have been classified as homicides.
