Kent police officers conducted a series of proactive patrols over the weekend, resulting in multiple arrests for felony warrants, drug possession, and DUI-related offenses, including one where a driver was driving on only three tires.

Officers focused their efforts on known problem areas across Kent’s East and West Hills, as well as the valley, leading to several significant on-view arrests.

The phrase “on-view arrest” refers to an arrest made by law enforcement without a warrant, based on an officer’s direct observation of a crime being committed.

Felony Drug Trafficking Arrest

Officer A. Davis made one of the weekend’s first major arrests near 104th Avenue and South 208th Street. He stopped a vehicle associated with a felony warrant and detained the 33-year-old Kent man behind the wheel. A warrant check confirmed the man was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service for Trafficking Dangerous Drugs. He was taken into custody without incident.

Drug Possession and Theft Warrant Arrests

Officer Corner, patrolling a high-crime area on Kent’s East Hill, arrested a 46-year-old Renton woman wanted on a King County Theft warrant. During a search before booking, officers found a bag of fentanyl pills and a container of fentanyl powder, leading to additional charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Two days later, Officer Corner spotted another warrant subject in the same East Hill area. The suspect, a 37-year-old Kent woman, was arrested without incident on a $5,100 Auburn warrant for Drug Loitering.

West Hill Drug Arrests and Identity Theft Investigation

Officer Stotler made two separate drug-related arrests on Kent’s West Hill. The first involved a 49-year-old Kent man spotted openly using drugs in a shopping center. He was wanted on a $35,000 DUI warrant out of Pierce County and was additionally charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs after Officer Neuman found fentanyl pills and powder on him.

Stotler’s second arrest occurred in a downtown apartment complex parking lot, where he saw an 18-year-old Kent man smoking fentanyl. A subsequent search revealed more fentanyl and multiple driver’s licenses and IDs belonging to other individuals, suspected to be stolen. The IDs were entered into evidence while officers attempt to locate the rightful owners.

DUI Arrests in Kent

Kent officers also responded to multiple DUI incidents over the weekend, including:

  • K9 Handler Robinson stopped a 40-year-old Lakewood man who was attempting to drive eastbound in a westbound lane on Willis Street while intoxicated.
  • Officer Heasley arrested a 39-year-old Seattle woman driving on E. Gowe Street—missing a tire.

Both drivers were found to be heavily intoxicated and taken into custody.

The Kent Police Department continues to encourage community members struggling with substance abuse to seek help. Available resources include StopWA and 988, the crisis support hotline.
