On Tuesday Sept. 24 – in support of “Rail Safety Week” – the Kent Police Department, along with the Amtrak Police Department and Operation Lifesaver, will participate in “Operation Clear Track.”

The goal of Rail Safety Week is to reduce pedestrian and driver injuries and fatalities around railroad tracks through increased public awareness and enforcement. This is the single largest rail safety law enforcement initiative in the U.S., and more than 600 law enforcement agencies will be participating nationwide.

The week-long event will run from Sept. 22-28, and during it, Kent Officers will be stationed at numerous railroad crossings to ensure vehicles are not stopping on the tracks.
