Two Kentridge students were named 2021 Semifinalists as announced by The National Merit Scholarship Program this week.

Representing less than one percent of United States high school seniors, Gina L. Dickson and Jonah M. Ladish-Orlich were honored for demonstrating exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

Over 1.5 million juniors in the United States took the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test to enter the 2021 National Merit Scholarship program. To continue in the scholarship competition, a semifinalist must be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and submit a detailed scholarship application which includes academic records, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and any honors or awards.

The 2021 National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in April 2021 and will join more than 353,000 students who have earned this distinction.

“Congratulations to our students for their hard work and efforts in achieving this honor and to the Kentridge High School staff in supporting all students in their quest for academic success.”
