Get Your Zombie Fix at ZombieFest NW on Sat., Sept. 17!
The 5th annual ZombieFest NW is back! ZombieFest exists first and foremost to raise awareness about emergency and disaster preparedness, but who can resist the zombie fun they interject into this free, family-friendly event?
On Saturday, Sept. 17th, the zombies will descend on Normandy Park Towne Center from 2 PM – 6 PM. There will be two performances of the Seattle Thrillers Zombie Dance Group at 3 PM and 4 PM; Seattle band “Vote For Pedro” will be playing at 4:15 PM and 5:30 PM; and at 5 PM, there will be a zombie costume contest judged by Seattle TV personalities.
In between the entertainment, there will be a lot to see and do:
- Explore the zombie mock disaster zone with emergency vehicles, including replicas of Mad Max and Jurassic Park vehicles along with real police and fire vehicles;
- Have the kids search booths in the children’s scavenger hunt or create something at the arts and crafts station;
- Learn how to make your own disaster preparedness kit;
- Refuel at the food booths;
- Enter the raffle; and
- Learn more at booths representing local businesses and organizations.
Since ZombieFest NW used to take place right before Halloween, they still keep alive the tradition of giving the kids a free pumpkin (while supplies last). There is even a free booth to help you “get zombified”! Thanks to local sponsors, volunteers will dress you up in zombie clothes and paint your face in zombie makeup so you can join in the fun as a fellow zombie!
A free shuttle bus is available to ease parking headaches. You can park at the Criminal Justice Training Center (19010 1st Ave S., Burien, WA 98149) to catch it.
ZombieFest NW not only is fun, raises awareness about emergency and disaster preparedness, and showcases local organizations and businesses, but it also raises money for the Highline Schools Foundation, local food banks and The Friends of Normandy Park Foundation.
Normandy Park Towne Center is located at 19900 1st Ave. S., Normandy Park, WA 98148. For more information on ZombieFest NW, go to their Facebook page or website.
