A 62-year-old Seattle man died early Saturday morning, Nov. 30, 2024 after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of 68th Avenue South and South 212th Street in Kent (map below).
Emergency responders from Kent Police, the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, and medics were dispatched to the scene at 6:04 a.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting the incident. Officers located the pedestrian unconscious in the roadway. Despite immediate medical assistance, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Initial witness statements suggest the pedestrian was struck while crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle, a 46-year-old Eatonville man, remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Police have stated that intoxication does not appear to have been a factor in the collision.
The Kent Police Traffic Unit is leading the investigation and is gathering evidence and witness statements to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
