On Tuesday, Aug. 28, Kent Mayor Dana Ralph and City of Kent employees delivered dozens of boxes of school supplies, 40 backpacks and a check for $1,040 to Kent-Meridian High School.
The effort was led by the city’s Giving Campaign Committee, and employees from all city departments contributed to the back-to-school drive.
City employees selected Kent-Meridian High School as the recipient, because high schools are often left out of back-to-school drives, and many students at Kent-Meridian are in need of supplies.
“I am so proud of our city employees who came together and collected needed school supplies for KM students. I was happy to help deliver backpacks, notebooks, calculators and other supplies, along with a check to buy whatever else is needed,” said Mayor Ralph. “As students return to school, it is important they have the supplies they need to make their year successful.”
