The City of Kent announced this week that Interurban Trail will close – from South 212th Street to James Street – starting Monday, April 15, 2019.

It will be closed through late 2020, from along the Union Pacific Railroad between James Street and the Connector Trail south of 212th Street.

This closure is necessary for the continued work on the 228th street grade separation and overpass project.

The city said the work will include installation of stone column ground improvements, installation of bridge shafts, construction of a new waterline, construction of the bridge, installation of large storm water vaults, construction of embankments and retaining walls, roadway and barriers.

There will be a detour in place along 68th Avenue/West Valley Highway, between James and the Connector Trail, for pedestrians and bicyclists – see detour map below:
