Kent Police Officers demonstrated adaptability and professionalism this week while responding to a call that turned out to be quite different from initial reports.
A 911 call was received from a motorist who reported being followed by another car for many miles. The driver, fearful of the other driver’s intentions, decided to drive to the Kent police station. Officers intercepted her as she approached the station and positioned themselves behind the suspect vehicle to ensure everyone’s safety.
Upon investigation, officers discovered the ‘suspect’ driver was a woman in her 50s from a nearby city who was disoriented and unaware of her actions. She was confused and did not realize she was following another car. There was no road rage or intoxication involved; her confusion appeared to be related to a recent change in prescribed medication.
Officers quickly assessed the situation, provided her with medical aid, and arranged for her transportation to a local hospital via ambulance for further evaluation.
“Quick response, keen observations and professional tactics,” police said.
